The basics
What Is a Custom Balloon Installation?
If it hangs overhead, spans a room, takes a shape or carries a logo, it's an installation.
A custom installation is balloon decor designed for one particular space and built on-site, usually bigger or more structural than an arch, a garland or a column. Picture a ceiling of balloons above a quinceañera dance floor, a cloud floating over a sweetheart table, a 30 ft entrance arch for a store opening, a giant mosaic number, a walk-through tunnel or a company logo made of balloons. This is where balloon decor becomes balloon art.
Because every installation is built for a specific room, it starts with measurements and a design instead of a price list. It's the right call when the room is large, the event is high-profile, or you want something your guests haven't already seen at the last five parties they went to. For standard pieces, see balloon arches, garlands, walls, columns and backdrops.
What we install
Types of Custom Balloon Installations
These are the installations San Antonio venues, businesses and families ask us for most.
Balloon ceilings
A balloon ceiling fills the space overhead, whether that's helium balloons floating against the ceiling with ribbons trailing down, air-filled balloons hung upside down at staggered heights, or garlands swagged from one wall to the other. It turns a plain hall, gym or parish hall into an event space, and it's a staple at quinceañeras, proms, weddings and holiday parties.
Hanging balloons, canopies and chandeliers
Garlands hung above a table, a canopy of balloons over a dance floor or under a tent, and balloons wrapped around an existing chandelier (or a balloon chandelier built on a hoop) put the decor at eye level and above without using any floor space. Ranch pavilions and barns with exposed beams are especially good for this.
Balloon clouds
A cloud is a soft, floating mass of white and clear balloons with a few pastel or metallic accents, hung over a table or used as a backdrop. Cloud nine birthdays, baby showers and dreamy wedding setups call for them most often.
Balloon drops
A drop lets hundreds of balloons fall from a net or bag overhead at a single moment: the New Year's countdown, a gender reveal, the quinceañera's entrance, the end of a graduation or a product launch. Drops are rigged before guests arrive and released with a pull cord right on cue.
Balloon sculptures and balloon art
Large sculptures take a recognizable shape, like a giant number, a cactus, a cake, a mascot or a company logo. Balloon art for schools, galleries and brand events can be built life-size or larger.
Balloon trees, palm trees and topiaries
Freestanding shapes work much like balloon columns with something special on top: palm trees beside the pool, neat topiaries for formal dinners, or a balloon Christmas tree in the office lobby.
Balloon tunnels
A tunnel is a run of arches set close together that guests walk through. It makes a memorable entrance for a wedding or a quinceañera court, a school walkway, a 5K finish line or a store opening.
Balloon mosaics, number towers and marquee letters
A mosaic fills a number, letter or shape frame with small balloons, like a picture made of pixels. Mosaic numbers and letters spell out an age, an initial or a class year, and marquee letters wrapped in balloons add light. They're some of our most-requested pieces for birthdays and graduations.
Balloon wreaths and giant balloons
Balloon wreaths frame a front door or a welcome sign. Giant balloons of 36 inches and up, sometimes filled with confetti, create big moments for gender reveals, proposals and photo shoots.

Process
How a Custom Installation Comes Together
Bigger builds take a little more planning. Here's how the process works.
- 1
Brief
Share the event, the date, the venue and your idea. Photos, mood boards and brand guidelines all help.
- 2
Site details
We check the room's size, ceiling height, rigging points, outlets, load-in hours and house rules, either in person or from your photos and measurements.
- 3
Design and quote
You get a design plan and a written quote. Large installs are priced by scope rather than by the foot.
- 4
Build day
We load in during the venue's window, build on-site and walk the room with you before guests arrive.
- 5
Strike
We clear it all out once the party ends, or first thing the next morning if the venue prefers.
Venue rules worth asking about early: downtown hotels along the River Walk typically set load-in windows and send vendors through a loading dock or service elevator; many venues ask for a certificate of liability insurance; some restrict helium tanks, tape on walls or anything hung from the ceiling without approval; and Hill Country ranch venues often keep their own vendor hours at the end of a long gravel drive. We sort all of this out before quoting so build day runs smoothly.
Pricing
How Much Do Balloon Installations Cost in San Antonio?
Custom installations start at $425 and scale with size and complexity.
| Installation | Starting at |
|---|---|
| Balloon mosaic number or letter, 3 ft | $210 |
| Balloon mosaic number or letter, 5 ft | $360 |
| Custom balloon installation | $425 |
| Marquee letter or number rental | $50 each |
| Ceilings, drops, tunnels and sculptures | Custom quote |
Bigger builds get a price once we've measured the site. Strict load-in rules or a late-night teardown can raise the total.
What sets an installation's price: the square footage or length covered, the balloon count and sizes, rigging and lift needs (ceiling height matters a lot), helium, labor hours, overnight or after-hours load-in, insurance paperwork for the venue, and a same-night strike. Send us your venue and ceiling height and we'll scope it properly.

Installations are for the events where guests walk in and stop in their tracks.

- Gender reveals: a pink or blue drop from overhead, a giant confetti balloon to pop, or a cloud that opens up.
- School dances and graduations: ceilings that transform a gym, tunnels at the door and mosaics of the class year.
- Birthdays: a balloon drop to cap off a 30th or 50th, and a mosaic number showing the age.
Timing
How Far Ahead to Book a Balloon Installation
Allow three to six weeks for a large installation.
A mosaic number or a balloon drop for a party at home can usually be booked a week or two ahead. Ceilings, tunnels, sculptures and any build at a hotel or event venue need three to six weeks to allow for design, venue sign-off and custom balloon orders. Fiesta in April, prom season, graduation weeks in May and June, December weekends and New Year's Eve are the first dates to go.

Questions
Custom Balloon Installations in San Antonio: FAQ
How much do balloon installations cost?
Our custom installations start at $425. Mosaic numbers start at $210 and marquee letters at $50 each. Ceilings, drops, tunnels and sculptures are quoted per project based on size, rigging and labor.
How much does balloon decor cost?
It depends on the piece. Our prices start at $55 for a mini column, $19 per foot for a garland, $165 for a tabletop arch, $335 for a styled backdrop and $425 for a custom installation. Each service page lists its full set of starting prices.
What is a balloon ceiling?
It's decor that takes over the space above your guests. That can be helium balloons bobbing against the ceiling with ribbons trailing down, air-filled balloons suspended at staggered heights, or garlands draped from wall to wall.
What is a balloon drop?
Hundreds of balloons released from a net or bag overhead at a set moment, like a New Year's countdown, a gender reveal, a grand entrance or a send-off.
How many balloons does a balloon drop take?
For a home or a small room, 100–250. For a dance floor or ballroom, 500–1,500 or more. The size of the drop area and the ceiling height set the number.
What is a balloon mosaic?
It's a frame shaped like a number, a letter or a heart, packed with small balloons so the colors form a picture. Ages, initials and class years are the usual choices for birthdays, grad parties and anniversaries.
How long do ceiling balloons last?
Helium ceilings stay full and floating for roughly 8 to 12 hours, so we install them on the day. Air-filled pieces that hang from the ceiling keep their shape for several days indoors.
How early should I book a balloon installation?
Give ceilings, tunnels, sculptures and anything at a venue three to six weeks. A mosaic number or a balloon drop for a home party usually needs just one to two.
Do venues allow balloon installations?
Most do, with conditions. Venues commonly ask for vendor liability insurance, set load-in and strike times, and may limit helium, tape and anything hung from the ceiling. We confirm the rules before we quote.
What is balloon art?
Sculptures and large designed pieces made from balloons, from giant numbers and logos to characters and full installations. It's a different craft from the twisted balloon animals made at kids' parties.
